Body of man, 40s, discovered at Cavan house as gardai seal scene and investigate ‘all circumstances’ surrounding death

GARDAI in Co Cavan are “investigating all circumstances” surrounding the discovery of a man’s body overnight.
The alarm was raised at around 3am this morning when the body was discovered at a residential property on Connolly Street in Cavan.
Gardai and emergency services raced to the scene in the early hours of this morning.
However, the man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The scene has now been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
The results of a post-mortem examination will determine the course of the garda investigation.
In a statement this morning a spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in Cavan town on Wednesday, 11th March 2026.
“Shortly after 3am, Gardai and emergency services were alerted when the body of a man in his 40s was discovered at a residential property on Connolly Street, Cavan. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
“The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
“The results of the post-mortem will assist Gardai in determining the course of the investigation. Investigations are ongoing.”
