‘Photo of the year’ – Ireland fans spot ‘brilliant’ details in pic of Andy Farrell celebrating during win over England

IRELAND fans spotted a hilarious detail within a photo of Andy Farrell and his coaches celebrating during the Six Nations win over England.
Ireland reinvigorated their Championship hopes with a sensational 42-21 win at Twickenham – a record away victory in London.

The scoreline, as well as the visitors’ dominant performance against the hosts, left the English crowd shellshocked and the Irish fans buoyant.
This was on display in a photograph taken by Sportsfile photographer Ramsey Cardy which had quite the amusing twist.
In it, Andy Farrell and his coaching team including Paul O’Connell, Simon Easterby, and Johnny Sexton can be seen celebrating Ireland winning a penalty.
However, in the background could be seen Princess of Wales Kate Middleton who was at the game alongside England prop Fin Baxter.
This amusing detail was pointed out by Cardy who captioned the photo on Instagram by saying: “Tough week to be a Royal”.
This led to a deluge of comments from followers reacting to the pic, with one calling it: “Photo of the year ”.
Fellow Sportsfile snapper Sam Barnes remarked: “Not liking this on a point of principal…. But good pic!”
A third follower said: “Brilliant photo
And a fourth said: “I really hope you had a wonderful day out at Twickenham and you are celebrating a meteoric demolition of England.”
Andy Farrell admitted that the greening of Twickenham made Saturday’s record breaking victory over England extra special.
And there was a visit to the dressing room from Taoiseach Micheal Martin to boot.
Farrell said: “We just had the Taoiseach in the changing rooms there. We spoke us a group after that as well. It is special. It is special.
“It just so happens that to the people of Ireland that winning does matter and it brings a bit of joy on everyone’s face.
“The crowd, the people that turned up, it was immense. I hope everyone at home is just as proud as well.
“It’s a special day, 100 percent is to come here and perform like that. We’d obviously be delighted with that.
“But even more so than that for us, I thought the respect that the lads show for one another out there on the field was immense.
“The respect that they show for the jersey and what it meant to them and the respect for the Irish people really.
“To learn some lessons and grow as a group, as a team, was the overriding feeling for me.”
Captain Caelan Doris also believes that the game could be one that is spoken about for years to come.
But he insisted that the team’s aim is to make sure that it is not as a one-off game, but as the start of something special.
He said: “It’s big. I spoke to you guys (media) about (losing in) Paris being a reference point where hopefully we’ll see a pretty steep incline in terms of performances.
“I think this will now be a reference point that we look back on as a proper good performance that’s given us a lot of belief.
“It was just an unbelievable atmosphere out there.
“You talk about inspiring the nation and getting the Irish people behind us and hopefully that brought both the people here and at home a bit of joy today. We definitely enjoyed it.”
