Man, 40s, killed and man, 60s, rushed to hospital after collision between car and lorry as Gardai close stretch

A MAN in his 40s has died and a second man in his 60s has been rushed to hospital after a crash in Co Cavan.
The collision occurred between a lorry and car on the R192 at Corcloughan, Shercock shortly before 7.30am this morning.
The driver of the car, the man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The lorry driver was taken to hospital for assessment following the collision.
Gardai have closed the stretch of road pending a technical examination.
They have now issued a witness appeal to members of the public.
They are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have footage of the area to come forward.
A garda spokesperson said today: “The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions remain in place.
“Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to Gardai.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Bailieboro Garda Station on 042 9694570, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
