Male pedestrian, 80s, dies in hospital day after being struck by bus in Wicklow crash as Gardai renew witness appeal

A MAN in his 80s has died in hospital after being struck by a bus in Co Wicklow earlier this week.
The collision involving the pedestrian and a bus occurred on Station Road, Bray on Thursday March 11, 2026.

Emergency services raced to the scene after being alerted to the crash at around 6pm.
The man in his 80s was rushed to St Vincent’s University Hospital for the treatment of “serious” injuries.
However, Gardai have confirmed he passed away in hospital yesterday evening.
A post-mortem is now due to take place and a technical examination of the scene has been carried out.
After the elderly man’s death Gardai have renewed their appeal for witnesses.
They are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have footage from between 5.40pm and 6.10pm.
A spokesperson said this morning: “Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
“Road users and pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area of Station Road, Bray between 5:40pm and 6:10pm are asked to make it available to investigating Gardai.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Bray Garda Station on (01) 666 5300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
