Woman, 30s, killed & man, 40s, injured in three-car crash in Co Limerick as Gardai hunt for driver who fled scene

A WOMAN, 30s, was killed in a horror three-car smash late last night as Gardai hunt for a driver who fled the scene.

A man, 40s, was also injured in the crash on a major road in Co Limerick, which remains closed.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the crash which took place at around 11.10pm last night on the N24 near Grange West, Boher.

Sadly the woman, who was the sole occupant of a car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The injured man, who was the sole occupant of a second car, was rushed to University Hospital Limerick.

He is being treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

Cops are hunting for the driver of a third car who fled, leaving his car behind at the scene of the crash.

The N24 remains closed between the R505 and the L1132 pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions have been put in place.

Garda spokesperson said they are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.

The spokesperson said: “The collision involved three cars and occurred at approximately 11:10pm.

“The sole occupant of a car, a female driver, aged in her 30’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

They added: “The sole occupant of the second car, a male driver, aged in his 40s, was conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

“Investigating Gardai are seeking to identify the driver of the third car. That driver fled, leaving the vehicle they were driving at the scene.

“Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

“Road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co. Limerick between 10:45pm and 11:30pm on Friday 13th February 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
