MUM GUILT

Irish star Lisa McHugh reveals ‘hardest part’ of health scare & pleads with fans to ‘keep my little babies’ in prayers

IRISH star Lisa McHugh has shared an update on her shock health diagnosis and asked fans to keep her babies “in their prayers”.

The country singer was recently forced to cancel her gig with Nathan Carter at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny after being rushed to hospital with sepsis.

Lisa‘s show would have been her first gig back after being diagnoses with Functional Neurological Disorder in 2025.

On the night, the Fermanagh native took to Instagram and explained: “I was admitted into hospital a couple of days ago with sepsis, but I want to reassure everyone, that I’m in the right place and receiving the best care and treatment to help get things under control.”

Now, the mum-of-two has provided an update on her current condition.

The 38-year-old wrote on social media: “Just a quick update. My body is finally responding well to the treatment and infection markers are coming down each day, I’m really hoping to be home soon.”

Lisa admitted that the “hardest part” of the past week has been her mum guilt.

She continued: “This is at least the sixth time in the last 18 months I’ve had to suddenly disappear for days, sometimes weeks, without being able to explain anything to Milo. That part breaks my heart more than anything.”

The songwriter pleaded with fans to “keep my little babies in your prayers”.

Lisa finished off her statement adding: “Thank you for all the love, messages and support as always, it truly means so much. And roll on March 1st… my new year is starting then.”

Fans all flooded the comment section with love for the star.

One follower wrote: “Praying for you all Lisa. I’m sure they miss you but I have no doubt they will be ok.”

‘IN GOOD HANDS’

A second said: “You take care of yourself you will be home soon to the two cutie pies!”

While a third assured: “I’m so sad to read this, Lisa. I know it’s hard to leave the kids without being able to explain or give them a proper return time but know that they are in good hands.”

And a fourth added: “So glad you’re feeling better. Hope to god this is the last thing to go wrong with your health and also the babies.”

In January 2025, Lisa was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia after a very stressful few months back and forth in hospital with her baby girl Hallie, who got RSV five times.

Unfortunately, Lisa’s health got worse in June 2025, as the “stress and trauma” she’d gone through had “finally caught up” with her body.

She was then diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), a condition that affects how the brain and nervous system communicate – which was what caused her to lose the ability to walk.
