Man stabbed & woman injured with nursery plunged into lockdown as armed cops swoop and suspect, 32, arrested

A MAN has been stabbed and a woman has been injured in a horror attack – plunging a nearby nursery into lockdown.
Armed officers swooped outside the school in Alum Rock, West Midlands, before arresting a man, 32, in connection with the attack this afternoon.



Emergency crews were scrambled to Bridge Road shortly after midday following reports a man had been “Seriously injured”.
West Midlands Police confirmed armed cops were also deployed as part of the urgent response.
The force said a woman suffered injuries not believed to be life threatening or changing during the attack.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
He is still being held in police custody this afternoon.
Detective Superintendent James Munro from West Midlands Police, said: “We believe this to be a contained incident with a man in custody.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to a number of people in the area.
“But would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch.
“We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is.
“We will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a trauma team and air ambulance crews were sent to the scene.
A spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a man with serious injuries and administered advanced life support on scene.
“A second patient, a woman, was treated for less serious injuries.”
West Midlands Police have called on anyone with more information to come forward.
