She suffered a single stab wound to the neck

The housekeeper tragically could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene from a single knife wound to the neck.

Her son Daniel Livie appeared at Winchester Crown Court today charged with murder.

The 39-year-old is also accused of making threats to kill against a man on January 8.

Livie spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing.

He was remanded into custody to next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on May 5.

Judge Angela Morris said: “We have a trial date for you, that is June 29 this year, that sounds as if it’s a long way off but believe you me, it will come round a lot quicker than you think it will.”

Livie was rushed to hospital with neck and leg wounds following the horror before he was arrest.

Hampshire Constabulary said it was not looking for anyone else in connection with Gilly’s death.

The force also confirmed it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because officers had been to the property before the stabbing.

A neighbour of Gilly, who wished to remain anonymous, said the 68-year-old had a husband, children and grandchildren.

Paying tribute, she told the Telegraph: “Gilly was a lovely lady, she was a keen runner … she had dogs and chicken and things.

“She was involved in the community in her own way. They kept themselves to themselves. She was very kind and very happy.”
