Shaheem Snype, 47, is seen pushing his son’s alleged killer to the ground and kicking wildly around his head.

McKnight’s shoes come off as he struggles to stand back up, slipping on the polished floor in the corridor of Mecklenburg County Courthouse in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He briefly gets back on his feet, but is swiftly tackled by the grieving dad again and pinned to the ground.

Dad Snype was Tasered by officers after launching a barrage of punches at his son’s alleged killer.

McKnight was taken to hospital after the assault, and the heartbroken father was charged with assault inflicting serious injury.

Jamariyae’s aunt Susan Sherrill said that Snype crossed McKnight in the corridor after the alleged murderer was released on bail.

She said that he never should have been let out and that Snype just did what any dad would have done.

She told Queen City News: “He did what he had to do as a father.

“Any father would’ve did the same thing. We’re still grieving.

“This is a wound that will never ever close because my nephew was 16 years old, and he should still be here with us.”

Lynnette Dixon, Jamariyae’s mum, said watching the video of her son’s alleged killer being attacked brought her a rare moment of relief.

She said: “My face smiled. I smiled.

“That was the first time I had a real smile since my son been gone.”

The courthouse brawl came after the death of Jamariyae last spring.

The teenager was shot and killed during an incident on Stroud Park Court, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Three victims were found with gunshot wounds in the park, and Jamariyae was pronounced dead two days later in hospital.

McKnight was later identified as a suspect and charged with murder.

He was released on bond in November 2025 and has been living at his mother’s home under electronic monitoring.

Officials said McKnight was in court because prosecutors wanted to revoke his bail and put the alleged killer back behind bars.
