‘I cannot cope’ cry Ireland AM viewers as Elaine Crowley left horrified by discovery after TV appearance

IRELAND AM star Elaine Crowley was left horrified by a discovery after her TV appearance.

The Cork native returned on screens on Sunday to host the hit morning show alongside Martin King and Deric Hartigan, who was filling in for Eric Roberts.

Elaine sat down with journalists Eimear Ní Bhroin, Laura Donnelly and Jack Horgan-Jones to speak about Storm Chandra and the impact it had on the country during the first segment.

However, after the programme Elaine opened her phone to a shocking discovery.

One of the 48-year-old’s fans had sent her a video of Elaine talking which zoomed into her shoulder and showed what looked-to-be a spider running down her arm.

Elaine couldn’t believe what she saw and wondered if the video was doctored.

She posted the video on Instagram and captioned it: “Was sent this by a viewer… What is that on my sleeve!!! Is it real???!!!!! #creepycrawlers.”

The presenter’s friends and fans were also horrified with the footage and flooded the comment section with their opinions.

Christine said: “Oh sweet Jesus no.”

David wrote: “Oh sweet Jesus, I would have screamed if I was sitting opposite you.”

Sinead added: “Call the fire brigade burn the place down I cannot cope.”

However, upon further inspection – it was revealed that the ‘spider’ in question was actually her hair falling off her shoulder.

And this isn’t the only shocking revelation Elaine has revealed recently as she told last month how someone followed her “400 miles” in a taxi and left her a “disturbing” present.

Author Tanya Sweeney appeared on an episode to talk about the rise and dangers of parasocial relationships, where fans feel like they “know” celebrities.

During her segment, Elaine opened up about a “terrifying” incident that happened to her.

Explaining the reason why she doesn’t post where she is on social media, Elaine said: “I got a fright that someone traveled 400 miles in a taxi once to come to the same place I was and that terrified me.

“So after that I was like never again am I doing anything like that because they think they know you which is absolutely bizarre.

“A present was left because thankfully I was in a different building, thanks to God, but I mean the stuff in that was disturbing to say the least.”

The 48-year-old said: “It’s part of the broad spectrum of so-called parasocial relationships.

“It means you’re kind of invested with someone you don’t really know on social media or an actor or an author or somebody that you don’t know personally but you’re invested.”
