Man, 30s, who died after one-car crash in Monaghan pictured as family pay ‘sadly missed’ tribute to ‘cherished son’

HEARTBREAKING tributes have flooded in for a man who died in a single-car collision in Co Monaghan last night.

Adrian Keenan, aged in his 30s, was remembered as a “cherished son” and “adored brother” by his family.

The collision occurred on the R187 at Inishammon, between Monaghan and Rosslea, at around 7.30pm.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the incident but Keenan was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A garda spokesperson said he was the only occupant of the car.

A death notice shared on RIP.ie said: “The death has occurred of Adrian Keenan, Fermoyle, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan, much loved son of Sean and the late Josephine Keenan, Wednesday 28th January 2026, tragically, following a road traffic accident.”

The notice added that he was a “cherished son” and “adored brother” to John (Leanne), Eugene (Jeny) and Veronica.

It said the Co Monaghan man will be “sadly missed and remembered with love by his heartbroken Dad, sisters, brothers and their partners”.

He will also be deeply missed by his nephews, loving partner and by a wide circle of friends who “loved Adrian”.

Heartbroken mourners shared touching tributes to “a lovely man”.

One said: “Sincere condolences to Keenan family on the untimely passing of Adrian.

“He was a lovely man, always having the craic, he will be missed. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

‘THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS’

Another wrote: “Sincere sympathy to Séan and all the Keenan family on the tragic death of Adrian.

“May he rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.”

Keenan’s body has been transferred to the Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The coroner has been notified.

The road was briefly closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

APPEAL

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R187 at Inishammon, Co. Monaghan, on Wednesday 28th January 2026 between 7.15pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on (047) 77200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
