Heartbroken family’s tributes as funeral details confirmed for teen Grace Lynch, 16, killed in Finglas scrambler crash

THE funeral details for young Grace Lynch who died in a collision in Co Dublin last Sunday have been confirmed.
The 16-year-old was killed after being hit by a scrambler bike in Finglas, Dublin, on Sunday afternoon.
The teen was on her way to meet her boyfriend and was just yards from her home when the scrambler crashed into her as she crossed the road.
Grace “tragically” died at Connolly Hospital a number of hours after she was hit by the scrambler bike that afternoon.
Grace’s family have now confirmed she will be laid to rest on Friday following a funeral mass at St. Oliver Plunketts Church, Rivermount.
Grace will be “sadly missed” by her “heartbroken” mother Siobhan, dad Martin, sisters Shauna and her partner Eddie, Brooke and her partner Rían, her little brother Jude.
She will also be deeply missed by her boyfriend Harry, grandparents Carol, Stevo and Dolores, uncles David, Stephen and Andrew, aunts Rachel, Sharon and Tracy and her cousins Holly and Luke.
Grace is also mourned by her extended family, her classmates in St. Michael’s Secondary School, neighbours and friends.
The family have requested the house remain private today before her funeral mass at 11am on Friday morning.
And the 16-year-old will be laid to rest at Dardistown Cemetery following her funeral mass.
Yesterday Keith Lee, 18, of Park View Drive, Poppintree Park, Dublin 11, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court .
The 18-year-old was charged with driving a vehicle in a manner which was dangerous to the public, thereby causing Grace’s death
‘WE ARE ALL DEVESTATED’
Hundreds of tributes have been pouring in for Grace since the teenager’s tragic death on the Ratoath Road, Finglas, at 2.20pm on Sunday.
Grace’s Granny Dolores led the tributes ahead of tomorrow’s funeral mass and thanked the public for their outpouring of support.
She penned: “Grace was loved by everyone she met. She was an amazing granddaughter and I will miss and think of her everyday. She will never be forgotten.
“Thank you to everyone for your condolences and support at this sad and difficult time. It has not gone unnoticed. Please keep Grace in your thoughts and prayers.”
More than a thousand people attended a vigil for the teenager on Monday last, retracing the route Grace had walked on the day she was killed.
Grace’s heartbroken mum Siobhan cried out while walking “justice for Grace, justice for my daughter”.
MOTHER’S ‘PAIN’
The grieving mother has launch a campaign, with the support of the local community, to ban scrambler bikes from streets.
Mum Siobhan said: “I just want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for coming out and supporting my child.
“I will fight, and I will fight to get these scramblers and scooters and everything off these streets.
“My poor baby was mangled in that hospital in that bed, and to watch her take her last breath is the worst pain imaginable.
“Its something no parent should have to deal with it. And with everybody’s support, and we get petitions signed and we do the best.
“We will get this in the name of Grace, support our Grace.”
Neighbour Debbie O’Brien said the community is still in shock following the teen’s untimely death.
She told The Irish Sun: “To be honest we are all devastated. It’s something that should have never happened.
“It’s something that we weren’t expecting to happen, and it’s something that needs to be addressed going forward.”
‘BEAUTIFUL LADY’
Heartbreaking tributes have steadily poured in for young Grace since her passing over the weekend.
Principal of St. Michael’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Marie Doyle, offered her sympathies to the family.
She said: “On behalf of the entire school community, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Grace’s parents, Martin & Siobhan, to her siblings, Shauna, Brooke & Jude, her boyfriend, her wider family and circle of friends.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this incredibly sad time.”
One friend penned: “My gracey girl I’m so sorry this happened you. I’ll cherish every moment spent with you forever I love you so much.
“From paddling pools and catching caterpillars to this my girl you did not deserve this , I’m so so glad I got to call you my friend.”
Another tribute read: “Beautiful lady gone far too soon. A community broken, it is heartbreaking.”
One mourner penned: “Beautiful Grace, may you rest in peace. The whole of Finglas is in mourning.”
Another simply stated: “Forever missed and loved.”
