Charlotte, 34, spent Christmas separated from her daughter Penny while under care of doctors for her chronic pain.

A source told The Sun: “Charlotte suffered a seizure and collapsed while at home.

“After returning from hospital, she was incredibly run down and had developed tonsilitis and a mouth full of ulcers.

“She was on strong medication and it was a balancing act to find the right dose.

“Charlotte’s doctors think her seizure was related to the new medicine she was put on.

“Her arms were limp and she couldn’t walk.

“It was absolutely terrifying.

“Thankfully her mum and pops were on hand to take care of her physically until she regained control of her limbs and could speak properly again.

“She’s slowly recovering and hopes the worst of it is behind her, but it’s been a very scary time.

“She’s been through so much.”

Since Charlotte’s seizure on Monday, she has slept the majority of the time sleeping in a desperate bid to recover.

She has been unable to eat much since having surgery and is looking forward to getting her appetite back.

Our insider added: “Charlotte’s barely eaten a meal a day and some days nothing at all because of the swelling and pain.

“She’s so excited for a good curry!! And a McDonald’s!

“It’s been challenging – especially having been in hospital on Christmas Day, but she made the best of it and finally returned home to Penny on the 27th of December.”

Last month The Sun revealed the devastating truth behind Charlotte’s brain surgery.

The Traitors star has suffered from trigeminal neuralgia for 13 years, but a recent relapse is claimed to have been brought on by the strain caused by her former friend Jonny Holloway’s accusation that he could be the father of her one-year-old child.

Charlotte has strongly denied she ever bedded Jonny and maintains Conor Maynard fathered Penelope – despite two failed DNA tests.

She underwent an MVD craniotomy – an invasive procedure to relieve trigeminal neuralgia – after she blacked out from the pain in December.

Trigeminal neuralgia is sudden, severe facial pain. It’s often described as like having an electric shock in the jaw, teeth or gums and usually happens in short, unpredictable attacks that can last from a few seconds to several minutes.

Speaking from her hospital bed in the neurology ward, Charlotte told The Sun last month: “This has been the hardest year of my life.

“Honestly, I feel broken. I’m in a lot of pain and with all that’s happened recently, it can all get a bit much.”
