Man, 50s, fighting for life after shock baseball bat attack on Dublin street as gardai identify violent thug as suspect

A VIOLENT thug has been identified as the suspect in a shocking baseball bat attack which left his victim fighting for life.
A major garda investigation is underway into the incident at McIntosh Park, Cabinteely in south Dublin on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, aged in his 50s, is in critical condition in St Vincent’s Hospital after he was knocked unconscious.
The suspect, in his 30s, has yet to be arrested however is well-known to gardai and is known to the injured party.
Shocking video footage of the assault emerged online.
After a short melee, the attacker dressed in black and with a face covered struck the victim across the head with a baseball bat.
The injured man had been looking in the direction of the attacker’s associate on a scooter at the time.
After being hit, he was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground, with his head smacking the path.
The man armed with a baseball bat ran into a nearby garden before emerging and approaching the victim once more.
He then fled on foot while his associates also scarpered.
The injured party was rushed to hospital where he is in a serious condition.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Mc Intosh Park, Cabinteely this afternoon Wednesday 11th March, 2026 at approximately 3pm.
“A man, aged in his 50s was seriously assaulted and removed from the scene to St. Vincent’s Hospital and remains in a serious condition.
“Investigations ongoing.”
