Two arrested after man left in coma with face injuries in Temple Bar attack as UK link probed & condition ‘improves’

TWO men, 20s and 30s, have been arrested after a man was left in a coma following a brutal attack in Dublin’s Temple Bar.
Officers from Pearse Street Garda Station made the arrests tonight as investigations remain ongoing.
Gardai are probing if the man who was left in a coma is from the UK.
One theory is that he could be from outside Ireland but had been living here, despite having a distinguishing tattoo with writing in Irish.
Another theory is that he may have been homeless.
The man’s condition slightly improved today when he came out of his coma, but he remains in a critical condition.
He’s being treated in Beaumont Hospital after he was targeted by two suspects in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Detectives have yet to identify the man and are waiting to see if his condition improves before seeking support from UK police.
Investigators are still seeking the public’s help in identifying the victim who has a tattoo on the inside of his right forearm.
The tattoo is described as a blue and white flag with the words ‘Ceol is Beatha’, meaning ‘music is life’.
The man was left with horrific facial injuries and a broken arm.
He suffered the broken limb when one of his attackers held him in a martial arts move before snapping it.
The thugs also repeatedly kicked his head and rammed an e-scooter into him.
Gardai are continuing to trawl through CCTV as they attempt to identify the attackers.
One source said: “Thankfully, he’s showing signs of improvement because he has suffered horrific injuries.
“If Gardai get the all clear from the medical staff, then hopefully they can interview the man.
“This was a barbaric attack, and hopefully the man makes a full recovery and can engage with gardai.”
The investigation into the assault is being run by officers from Pearse Street Garda station.
No arrests have been made in the investigation.
